How can I reorder or extract PDF pages locally?
Open an unencrypted PDF, then move or remove pages in the preview or apply a page range. Page labels refer to the original file. Pocketful exports a new PDF in your chosen order and leaves the original file unchanged.
Example: steps and expected output
- Load the public three-page PDF: Cover, Notes, Appendix.
- Enter 3,1 in Extract pages, then choose Apply range. The preview should show original page 3 followed by page 1.
- Create PDF and download the two-page copy. To add a label, choose PDF Watermark in the next-step links after creating the result.
| Original pages | Action | Expected result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Cover · 2 Notes · 3 Appendix | Apply 3,1 | Appendix, then Cover; 2 pages |
| Same original | Restore all pages | Cover, Notes, Appendix; 3 pages |
The range follows the order you enter. Repeated pages are included once: 3,1,3 also produces pages 3 and 1.
Limits and important details
- Use unencrypted PDFs up to 50 MB and 500 pages. Automatic transfer to the next tool is limited to 30 MB; larger results must be downloaded and chosen manually. Preview covers the first 50 selected pages; export includes all selected pages.
- Use increasing ranges such as 1-3 and commas for groups. To reverse pages, list them individually, for example 3,2,1.
- Forms, bookmarks and existing signatures may not survive a rebuilt copy. Keep the original and inspect the exported document.
- The optional PDF compression step makes image-based pages. Searchable text, forms and links will not be retained. Skip compression when you need those features.

FAQ
Does 3,1 refer to the current preview or original file?
The original file. After reordering, labels still show original page numbers.
Can I repeat a page in the output?
Not in this workbench. Repeated page numbers are deduplicated, keeping their first position.
Why is the download hidden after changing a range?
The earlier export no longer matches the selection. Apply the range and create a new PDF before downloading or continuing.
