Are my photos uploaded?

No. The HEIC decoder runs via JavaScript entirely in your browser. Personal photos stay on your device — that's the whole point.

What is HEIC and why convert it?

HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11 — efficient, but many Windows apps, websites and older devices can't open it. JPG works everywhere.

Does conversion lose quality?

JPG is lossy, but at the default 90% quality the difference is invisible for normal photos. Drag the slider to 100% for maximum fidelity (larger files).
