Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding and encoding happen entirely in your browser via canvas and a local HEIC decoder. Your files never leave your device β you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Which formats can I convert from and to?
Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF (first frame), AVIF, SVG and HEIC/HEIF. Output: JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF. Camera RAW formats (CR2/NEF) and PSD are not supported β they require heavy decoders that don't fit a fast, local-first tool.
Why is AVIF greyed out or failing?
AVIF encoding depends on your browser. Chrome and Edge support it; if your browser can't encode AVIF, conversion to that format will fail β pick WebP instead, which is similarly compact and universally supported.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas (from PNG, WebP, SVG or HEIC) are flattened onto a white background. Choose PNG or WebP output to keep alpha.
